My Awesome Target Trip! Just $.88!

Target 01/08/11

I did 3 transactions because the Olay coupons are P&G clearly state only 4 per transaction.
Here's the breakdown:

Transaction 1:
15 GoodLife Cat food @ $.77 each = $11.55 - will donate
4 Olay bar soap @ $.97 each = $3.88 (for gift baskets)
1 Oscar Mayer hot dogs @ $1.99
1 dozen eggs @ $1.79
1 New York Texas Toast @ $2.49 (dinner, worked all day & didn't feel like cooking anything fancy)
1 Stouffer’s Lasagna @ $9.99 (dinner, worked all day & didn't feel like cooking anything fancy)
Subtotal = $31.69
Coupons used:
15 $1.50/1 Goodlife cat food coupons = -$22.50
4 $2/1 Olay = -$8
1 $.75/1 Oscar Mayer = -$.75
Final total: $.44 + sales tax

Transaction 2:
4 Olay soap @ $.97 = $3.88 (for gift baskets)
2 Oscar Mayer Lunchables @$1 = $2 - (the ones from Thursday are gone already!)
1 Sara Lee bread @ $1.89
1 Bisquick shake n pour @ $1.99
Subtotal = $9.66
Coupons used:
4 $2/1 Olay = -$8.00
2 $.75/1 Oscar Mayer = -$1.50
Final total = $.26 + sales tax

Transaction 3:
2 Olay soap @ $.97 = $1.94 (for gift baskets)
1 Wrapping paper @ $1.74 (for the wedding actually)
2 Oscar Mayer lunchables @ $1.00 = $2.00

Subtotal = $5.68
Coupons used:
2 $2/1 Olay = -$4.00
2 $.75/1 Oscar Mayer product = -$1.50 (the ones from Thursday are gone already!)
Final total = $.18 + sales tax

Again, I'm in Kansas so tax is a killer.
We are taxes precoupon & our sales tax is high (9.525%!).
And we are taxed on everything - food and all!
While my final subtotal for all 3 transactions was only $.88, my sales tax was $4.49.
That makes my final OOP (out of pocket) cost: $5.37. Which is still an awesome deal. That 1/2 of what I would have paid for just the lasagne! I just don't include it in the breakdown usually because most of you lucky folks don't have to deal with nearly that much tax. I should start shopping in Missouri more since that's where I work, but Target would add about 20 minutes to my commute. Ugh.

I don't calculate sales tax in these trips because depending on what state you live in, you may not have to pay any sales tax at all, or you may pay only on the non-food items, or it may be pre-coupon price, or post-coupon price. Basically, becaue sales tax varies so widely between states, I don't feel that including it would help you to see what you can get.

Free Malt-O-Meal at Walmart!

Wal-Mart has their small bags of Malt-O-Meal cereal on price rollback to just $1.00.

Well in yesterday's SmartSource inserts, there was a coupon for $2 off 2 bags of Malt-O-Meal. The coupons vary in the size requirements, but for most people, you should be able to score free cereal!

At the Wal-Mart I went to, they had a big display of the cereal in the center aisle by the food so look for one of those if the regular aisle is out. Also, depending on the size requirements of your coupons, check out the different varieties for different sizes. I know some kinds weigh more than others!
